3T CYCLING: AERODYNAMIC IS THE KEY IN TESTS AGAINST TIME

aero test 3t Aerodynamics is the key to getting better times in races against time: crusher and triathlon.
The air resistance slows down. The faster you are, the more you slow down the air resistance: the aerodynamic advantage allows you to win the races.
This awareness struck cycling as a lightning strike in 1989, when Greg LeMond, riding on a first aerodynamic configuration, won the Champs-Elysées final stopwatch to snatch the final win at Laurent Fignon at the Tour de France.
Since then, all the components of racing bikes have adapted to this reality. The same applies to the UCI rules, repeatedly revised to ensure that no runner takes an unfair advantage from aerodynamic components.
3T has worked for a long time on this frontier between technical progress and fair play, testing the boundary between what is possible and what is permissible. Four years before LeMond's definitive tour victory, 3T built the bullhorn bar that Francesco Moser used during the world record of bike time. It was the fundamental project for every TT handlebar that followed since.
Fast forward to 2008: 3T builds Ventus, the most radical and aerodynamic aerobic ever. The winner of the Tour de France Carlos Sastre uses it, including Fabian Cancellara and Gustav Larsson, gold and silver at the Beijing Olympics.
Like other component builders, 3T tests the aerodynamic performance of its new product designs theoretically, using computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and empirically, in the wind tunnel.
The mix of creative creativity and attentive and methodical wind tunnel development has helped a lot of 3T cycling when he started embarking on his biggest challenge of the product of the modern era: build wheels. Using a heavy-duty CFD system, 3T has developed a new hoop profile whose resistance numbers fit best, while delivering other significant benefits.
The tests carried out at the Mercedes Petronas wind tunnel showed, as expected, that 3T Mercury and 3T Orbis have a constant and low aerodynamic resistance at all corners of the yaw, making them unconditionally stable in turbulent air travel in the world real. The same design advantages now extend to the 3T Accelero wheelbase range.
The 3T aerodynamic study program continues for all the new relevant products, usually in the Pinfina Gronache (TO) wind tunnel.
