HOKA ONE ONE and the shoes of the FLY collection: CAVU, ELEVON, MACH

HOKA 2018 FLY COLLECTION The new collection of HOKA ONE ONE spring-summer 2018 running shoes has finally arrived on the market (and also by MOTUS).
Also part of this collection are the three models of the new range of neutral shoes called FLY.

This HOKA FLY collection focuses on making highly cushioned yet lightweight running shoes.
But how? Thanks to the new PROFLY technology from Hoka One One! Dual density midsole: softer in the heel for a more cushioned landing, with a high density foam in the forefoot for greater propulsion. Using Hoka's terminology: "these shoes are ready to take off".

HOKA ONE ONE CAVU
The first neutral running shoe in this collection is called CAVU: the lightest and the lowest.
Hoka has made this shoe with only 188g for women and 231g for men. The difference between the heel and the toe is 4 mm (while the sister / brother shoes, the Elevon and the Mach, have a drop of 5 mm).
The price of Cavu is also the lowest in the series.
If you're looking for a low price, a lightweight shoe and responsive cushioning, Cavu could be your new year's shoe!

HOKA ONE ONE MACH
Even the Hoka One One Mach model is incredibly light, but with an additional technology. At just 190g for women and 231g again for men, in addition to a 5mm differential, these running shoes have a trend-setting aesthetic. The upper in breathable mesh differentiates the Mach dal Cavu notably for aesthetics.
And if you know the brand, Hoka One One Mach will remember the Clayton shoe, winner of the Editor's Choice Award at Runner's World Magazine in 2016.
And Mach, evolution of the previous Clayton, is no different: to but be driven quickly and is the new Clayton of Hoka.
Made with PROFLY technology in the midsole and with complete RMAT sole, it provides a light and soft contact with the ground and a reactive response, as well as some elements of greater stability compared to Cavu.
But then what are the differences of Mach compared to Cavu. The Mach shoe was designed with the Meta-Rocker of the first phase of Hoka for fluid control and transition. The Meta-Rocker supports a rider's natural gait and gives the rider a smooth transition from impact to thrust. This technology is designed to increase operating efficiency.
But not only that, Mach has an oversized active foot mold for maximum tuned stability. It allows your feet to lie deep in the midsole for a cradle-like foot fit, rather than just resting on the top of the midsole material.

HOKA ONE ONE ELEVON
The third and last running shoe by Hoka One One in the FLY collection is Elevon.
You can already tell from the photos that the aesthetics of this shoe is perhaps the best of the series. It has a combination of an elegant mesh and a seamless upper with a variable tinge.
Hoka One One Elevon has the highest price in the series because it houses most of the Hoka technology.
It is heavier than Mach and Cavu, with weights of 297g for men and 245g. for women, but the drop is the same as the 5 mm Mach.
The technology comes from its predecessor Hoka: the model Vanquish 2. If you remember the Vanquish 2, it was a super cushioned and versatile shoe for the runner looking for an elastic and reactive race. With a double-layer midsole construction built with two EVA compounds, Vanquish 2 is designed to provide traditional HOKA ONE ONE Ultrasize cushioning.
Vanquish 2 also won the Editor's Choice Award from Competitor magazine in 2016.
Elevon also retains the cushioning of the double-layer midsole, with a combination of a super-lightweight midsole and a cushion that cradles the foot.
Hoka One One adds its suspension structure with a top layer of PROFLY and a lower injection frame designed with PROpulsion, PROtection and support. In addition, a TPU clip is present in the heel for greater support and stability.

In conclusion: which model is better than the other?

Technically, yes, yes, and we're talking about running efficiency, but every shoe is designed for a specific consumer. Depending on the price, Hoka has developed shoes based on technology that could be added or removed.
The Elevon includes all of the above for a smooth transition, durable cushioning and responsive ride. Mach is a versatile intermediate solution ideal for everyday running, with a partial technology compared to Elevon, but with an award-winning design.
And Cavu, if you do not engage in long mileage, is the perfect shoe (marathon runners and high-mileage runners opt instead for the Elevon) .
