The crankset is the heart of the new 1x Ekar system, with its gearing options covering a wide range of uses. Of course, the single chainring is simple to use: no derailleur, significantly reduced weight, fewer moving components that collect dirt and can create snags and high chain security, without unnecessary gear overlap – perfect solution for gravel routes .
The two cranks made of UD carbon fiber mount AISI 630 steel semi-axles, in line with the skilful combination of materials of the entire Ekar group, in order to obtain lightweight components, but with maximum efficiency and durability.
The new ProTech™ technology joins the two half-axles inside the bottom bracket, with a single strong screw. The oversized stainless steel bearing is located on the crank arm, keyed to the half-axle, for maximum smoothness and strength - and to be easily accessible for inspection and maintenance, without having to dismantle the cups.
There are four gear options: Adventure has 38 teeth; Pure Gravel is 40T, Fast Gravel is 42T and eGravel 44T. Their optimized design offers efficient drivetrain and maximum chain reliability.
The light and resistant 7075 aluminum gears are easily interchangeable: you can simply unscrew them from the four crank arms without having to dismantle the crankset. The four arms, set asymmetrically for optimal load distribution, have a bolt circle of 123 mm. Changing gears is a simple and efficient way to change your gearing as you tackle different types of trails.
The Ekar crankset features four crank length options - 165, 170, 172.5 and 175mm - to suit riders and bikes of all types. For some gravel bikes with low bottom brackets, shorter cranks are most used to avoid getting stuck on loose and unpredictable surfaces.
A Q-factor of 145.5mm offers a comfortable and efficient pedaling style, whatever your size.
The UD carbon arms feature removable protective end caps, to keep your components looking like new, whatever terrain you tackle.
